CHICAGO-BASED STARTUP ARCHER SIGNS PITCHER CLAY CHAPMAN TO $3.4 BILLION CONTRACT, BIGGEST SPORTS ENDORSEMENT DEAL OF ALL TIME

CHICAGO-- Archer, a Chicago-based company that sells men’s home products, has signed Chicago-area athlete Clay Chapman to the biggest sports endorsement deal of all time. In order to accommodate the company’s modest financials, the hurler, who plays for the Crestwood-based Windy City ThunderBolts, will be paid over an agreed period of 10 million years.

“I’m stoked,” said Mr. Chapman, 24. “This is huge.”

Archer is a manufacturer of home care products for men. The brand’s flagship product is a line of air fresheners with male-targeted scents such as European Sports Car and Hunting Lodge. The company is currently expanding its line to include masculine dish soaps and plans to launch candles for men later this year. Mr. Chapman’s signing marks the start of Archer’s new ad campaign, “Smell The Epic.”

Company co-founder John Bleeden added: “This is a very exciting day for the Archer Brand. Upon meeting, we were struck by how perfectly Mr. Chapman fit with our brand. He is a young pitcher with the best years of his career ahead of him,” Bleeden said of the Frontier League star, who is in his second season with the ThunderBolts. “We feel the same way about our company - our best years are coming.”

Chapman fielded questions at the March 29 press conference held in Chicago. An assortment of pastries and premium dark roast coffee was served to attendees. The press conference can be viewed via Facebook Live at facebook.com/archermen.

At the end of the 10 million year period, both parties will have the option to extend.
